This effort, a part of the OWH's Demographic Information and Data Repository See repository. (DIDR DIDR Distributed Intrusion Detection and Response ) initiative, will ultimately support the creation of a drug label repository that will provide Agency scientists and researchers easier access to FDA product labeling information. The FDA approved drug In the United States, the FDA approves drugs. Before a drug can be prescribed, it must undergo an extensive FDA approval process. This process involves first testing the drug on animals or in medical labs. label (also known as a drug insert) is a comprehensive summary of information gained during the drug development, approval and post-approval periods. The insert includes instructions on that drug's indications, safety, use, interactions and adverse events. Apelon will assist the OWH in evaluating terminology for use in representing concepts in labelling. This will support development of a labelling repository that can be used to conduct complex queries, such as a search for all products indicated for treatment of osteoporosis, or all products considered safe for nursing mothers. This research data will provide new insights into the use patterns and effectiveness of medications on targeted demographic groups.
