FCI Broadband Uses Catena CN1000 Broadband Loop Carrier to Deliver Lifeline Voice and High-Speed Internet Access Services.

Catena Networks today announced that FCI Broadband, a local and long-distance carrier serving the Toronto metropolitan area, is using Catena's CN1000 Broadband Loop Carrier (BLC) to deliver lifeline voice and high-speed Internet access services to its subscribers.

Because the CN1000 provides Plain Old Telephone Service (POTS) and Asynchronous Refers to events that are not synchronized, or coordinated, in time. By integrating the functions of a Next Generation Digital Loop Carrier In telephone communications, a technology that increases the number of channels in the local loop by converting analog signals to digital and multiplexing them back to the end office.  (NGDLC), a video-enabled Digital Subscriber Line Access Multiplexer A Digital Subscriber Line Access Multiplexer (DSLAM) allows telephone lines to make faster connections to the Internet. It is a network device, located near the customer's location, that connects multiple customer Digital Subscriber Lines (DSLs) to a high-speed Internet  (DSLAM), a Fiber Multiplexer and a packet-ready Media Gateway, the CN1000 greatly simplifies the access network.
