FBR collections cross Rs.259 billion figure during first quarter.

 provisional figures released by FBR. Of the total collections, Rs.83,309 million were collected as direct taxes whereas Rs.175,932 were collected as indirect taxes, the figures revealed. During the quarter under review, sales tax sales tax, levy on the sale of goods or services, generally calculated as a percentage of the selling price, and sometimes called a purchase tax. It is usually collected in the form of an extra charge by the retailer, who remits the tax to the government.  collections totalled Rs.115,942 million including Rs.52.120 million as imported-related sales tax and Rs.63,822 as domestic sales tax. Collection of Federal Excise was recorded at Rs.26,925 million where as revenue collections from customs stood at Rs.33,065 million during the first quarter. The board during the first quarter of the current financial year rebated Rs,15,886 million, including Rs.7,990 in direct taxes and Rs.7,896 in indirect taxes. During the month of September, FBR collected Rs 98.372 billion, according to the figures. However, the final revenue collection figures for the month of September 2009 are likely to increase further following the receipt of taxes, including taxes deducted de·duct

During the month under review, the direct taxes collections stood at Rs.39,418 million whereas the indirect tax collection stood at Rs.58,954 million. Sales tax during the month was recorded at Rs.38,467 million including Rs.16,959 as imported related sales tax and Rs.21,508 as domestic sales tax, the figures revealed. The federal excised during September 2009 was recorded at Rs.8,022 million whereas Rs.12,465 were collected as customs duty customs duty: see tariff. . The board during the month rebated Rs.2424 million, including Rs.461 million in direct taxes and Rs.1,963 in indirect taxes.
