The warning came as Scotland Yard stepped up watch around airports, shopping centres and rail routes in the run-up to Christmas. Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Ian Blair spoke yesterday of the "growing" threat of a terror attack on British soil which "might happen" during Christmas. But he added: "We have no specific intelligence."
