Still seeking to solve a series of bombings in Atlanta, the Federal Bureau of Investigation Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), division of the U.S. Dept. of Justice charged with investigating all violations of federal laws except those assigned to some other federal agency.  released images of nine people it would like to question about the deadly explosion in Centennial Olympic Park Centennial Olympic Park is a 21 acre (85,000 m²) public park located in downtown Atlanta, Georgia, USA that is owned and operated by the Georgia World Congress Center Authority.  in July.

FBI officials who spoke at a news conference Thursday afternoon said the people they were searching for were not necessarily suspects. But all were either near the park during the period when investigators believe the bomb was placed, or were seen carrying a backpack similar to the one that contained the bomb.

``We want to stress that in all probability the unidentified persons in the photos, video frames and sketch sketch, a rapidly executed kind of pictorial note-taking. The sketch is not usually intended as an autonomous work of art, although many have been considered masterpieces in their own right.  are simply witnesses or innocent bystanders,'' said David W. Johnson, the special agent in charge of the Atlanta office of the FBI. ``They may or may not have information that is useful to the investigation.''

Since the early hours of July 27, when a pipe bomb filled with nails detonated near a sound-and-light tower, killing one woman and injuring 111 people, investigators have examined nearly 1,000 videotapes and 5,000 photographs taken by security cameras and park visitors. They also have interviewed more than 2,000 witnesses, Johnson said.

Federal and state investigators also are trying to determine whether the park bombing was related to two more recent bombings.

Investigators said there were similarities and differences in the construction of the bombs in the three incidents. Johnson said Thursday that it was still too early to say whether any of the bombings were related.

The letters, postmarked in Atlanta on the morning after the explosion, claim that both of this year's bombings were the responsibility of a group purporting to be a militant religious cell called the Army of God.

The FBI has twice before made public appeals for assistance in investigating the park bombing, and has offered a reward of $500,000 for information leading to the conviction of the person or people responsible. Anyone with information is asked to call a toll-free number: (888) 324-9797.
