FAst extraCT (FACT) V2 Now Shipping for Oracle.CoSORT Flat File ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) The functions performed when pulling data out of one database and placing it into another of a different type. ETL is used to migrate data, often from relational databases into decision support systems. Component Adds Support for Large Object Data SAN FRANCISCO San Francisco (săn frănsĭs`kō), city (1990 pop. 723,959), coextensive with San Francisco co., W Calif., on the tip of a peninsula between the Pacific Ocean and San Francisco Bay, which are connected by the strait known as the Golden -- Innovative Routines International (IRI Iri (ē`rē`), former city, North Jeolla (Cholla) prov., SW South Korea. An agricultural center and transportation hub, it was absorbed into Iksan. ), Inc. ("The CoSORT Company"), the pioneer in high-volume sort and data warehouse acceleration software for open systems, has announced a major upgrade to FAst extraCT (FACT) for Oracle: Version 2 for UNIX UNIX Operating system for digital computers, developed by Ken Thompson of Bell Laboratories in 1969. It was initially designed for a single user (the name was a pun on the earlier operating system Multics). and Linux servers. FACT 2 uses parallel unload technology and other techniques to: accelerate extract performance; produce portable flat files; and, facilitate large ETL and reorg operations. The new FACT release adds the following:
1) Support for Binary Large Object (BLOB) and Character Large
Object (CLOB) data extraction.
2) Support for select query math using environment variables
3) Support for LDAP connections to Oracle 10G
4) Configuration file parameter consolidation of outfile paths,
names, and extensions
5) Processing buffer size control for tuning extraction
performance
6) Support for Oracle 9i YYYYMMDDHH24MISSFF format
The most important element of the new FACT version is support for LONG binary extraction data in Oracle. According to Scalable Systems CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board. Sam Biswal, "Finding and extracting data in type 5 unstructured tables like BLOB/CLOB is a major challenge, since the sources are impervious to common data or text processing techniques. With support for CLOB (Character Large OBject) A database field that holds a large amount of text (character data). Also known as a "memo field" in some database programs. A DBCLOB is a "Double Byte" CLOB that supports two-byte Unicode characters. See text based and Unicode. Contrast with BLOB. and BLOB data extraction, this FACT version will definitely add lots of value and return on investment in high-volume ETL operations." Scalable Systems is a New Jersey-based consultancy specializing in data warehousing and business intelligence. According to IRI support engineer Rob Howard, "FACT customers are pleased with its familiar SQL SQL in full Structured Query Language. Computer programming language used for retrieving records or parts of records in databases and performing various calculations before displaying the results. SELECT notation for offloading exactly the rows and columns they require. And they are quick to exploit FACT's simple syntax for tweaking tweaking Vox populi Fine-tuning to produce optimal results date and timestamp formats, reducing column widths, enclosing values within frame characters, and so on. FACT performance is second-to-none for extraction speed, which is vital to their operations." FACT also creates the extract metadata for subsequent or simultaneous data transformations in CoSORT's SortCL program, and Oracle SQL*Loader utility, respectively. FACT users can pipe multi-gigabyte tables directly from Oracle into SortCL scripts that can produce many load and report targets at once. Pre-sorted data can also dramatically accelerate bulk database load operations. About Innovative Routines International (IRI), Inc. Founded in 1978 and headquartered in Melbourne, Florida, IRI develops and markets high-speed data sorting, reporting and ETL acceleration software for UNIX and Windows data centers. CoSORT tools perform and speed: legacy sort and data migrations; very large database (VLDB (Very Large DataBase) An extremely large database. What constitutes a VLDB is debatable, but databases of 100GB or more are generally considered the starting point. ) reorgs; high-volume data warehousing; BI reporting; and, third-party software applications. CoSORT's SortCL can simultaneously: select, sort/merge/join, aggregate, calculate, convert, reformat (1) To change the record layout of a file or database. (2) To initialize a disk over again. and report. IRI's core products: CoSORT, FAst extraCT (FACT) for Oracle, and RowGen (test data), are represented in more than 30 offices around the world.
