FATAL HEAD-ON WOMAN KILLED, TWO INJURED IN ACTON COLLISION.Byline: Greg Botonis Staff Writer ACTON - A woman was killed and two other people were injured Tuesday in a head-on collision that closed southbound Sierra Highway for nearly two hours. The woman, whose name was not immediately released, was pronounced dead at the scene by firefighters who were the first to arrive at the crash. Another person had to be cut from a vehicle and at least one other person suffered moderate injuries, officials said. The crash occurred just after 1:30 p.m. Tuesday on Sierra Highway east of Soledad Canyon Road. A Ford F-150 pickup truck and a vehicle believed to be a Jeep Wrangler collided head-on, witnesses said. Both injured people were flown by helicopter to Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills. Their names and condition were not immediately available. California Highway Patrol traffic investigators who specialize in fatal crashes were called in from Sylmar to investigate the collision. The southbound lanes of Sierra Highway were blocked for nearly two hours until officials opened one lane. By 4:45 p.m. both lanes were reopened.
