FASTWEB Selects Juniper Networks to Expand Broadband Network For IPTV and VoIP Services; Over 200 E320 Router Units Ordered in First 9 Months of Availability.

CHICAGO -- Juniper Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ:JNPR) today announced that FASTWEB has selected the E320 Broadband Services Router to further expand its broadband network in response to the growing demand for Triple Play services from residential and business customers. As Italy's second operator in fixed telephony at the forefront of broadband applications and services and world's second largest IPTV operator (1), FASTWEB will utilize its advanced broadband network to broadcast all FIFA World Championship 2006 soccer matches over IP, as well as enhance its Voice over IP (VoIP) services.

The E320 Broadband Services Router provides the intelligence, quality of service and bandwidth shaping features required for FASTWEB to deliver advanced, next-generation broadband services over IP. By centralizing these capabilities in the E320 router, new services can be cost-effectively added, while ensuring service performance and subscriber quality of experience at scale. With support for high-density Ethernet, the E320 Broadband Services Router can also efficiently facilitate FASTWEB's migration from its existing ATM broadband network to a next-generation Ethernet-based access network.

FASTWEB offers its residential subscribers multiple value added services, including television IPTV, over its broadband network. The combination of IP technology and FASTWEB's bandwidth have allowed residential customers, both with a fibre optic (since 2001) and a DSL connection (since 2003), to receive since traditional broadcast television, multicast (Pay TV and Pay-per-View) and unicast services (Video-on-Demand and interactive TV) over FASTWEB's network. FASTWEB will multicast all 2006 FIFA worldwide championship matches. FASTWEB is also testing HDTV video-on-demand and multicast transmission over high speed DSL connections.
