LANCASTER - Urban chic and hometown comfort were the fashion concepts of Guess, Donna Karan Donna Karan is the fashion designer and the creator of the DKNY (Donna Karan New York) clothing label. She was born Donna Ivy Faske on October 9, 1948 in Forest Hills, New York. , Anne Klein Anne Klein (August 3, 1923 - March 19, 1974) was an American fashion designer whose label was continued by designer Donna Karan after Anne Klein's death.

Anne Klein was born as Hannah Golofski in New York City on August 3, 1923.

Assistance League Models Auxiliary members and children from the league's preschool promenaded at last week's show at the Antelope Valley Fairgrounds' Poppy Pavilion in the newest gowns and ensembles from Dillard's.

All proceeds from the annual fashion show go to support the league's preschool day-care center and kindergarten for the children of working mothers.

The Assistance League of Antelope Valley is partially supported by the United Way.

The theme this year was ``Quilted Treasures,'' and shades of plum, ``whiskey brown'' and cranberry predominated the color spectrum, which also included blacks, winter whites, rust, grey, gold, silver, garnet and peacock.

Elegance for the holidays was shown in the formal evening gowns, which almost completely omitted spaghetti straps in favor of strapless strap·less

League president Linda Orro welcomed the guests and introduced the event chairman, Fay Harrison-Berger.

Local businessmen, who assisted as volunteers, included John A. Currado, Dennis Termeer, Howard Engstrom, Sigurd Procyk, Mario Pacione, George Gecy, Bill Hier and Tom Kestler.

As in the past, the event included a silent auction, boutique, the sale of homemade confections, centerpiece sale and an artists' village.

Handmade jewelry by longtime contributor Jack Abney was awarded during the day, and there was an opportunity drawing. Entertainment was provided by harpist Christina Savage.

Menus for the week at the senior life nutrition sites in Lancaster and Palmdale have been announced. All meals include bread, margarine and coffee, tea or milk, for the suggested donation of $2.
