They were first seen hanging out together at the USC-Florida State game.

Fargas didn't disappoint, rushing for 268 yards and three touchdowns in Notre Dame's 43-15 win over Alemany.

Afterward, Thomas came over to congratulate his friend. Thomas, one of the top five quarterbacks in the nation, is believed to be leaning toward USC An abbreviation for U.S. Code. .

``It would be great to play with a guy like that at USC,'' said Fargas, who has narrowed his schools to USC and Michigan. ``I plan to make my decision near the end of the season. But he's my friend and he's a great player.''

When he realized he led on that Thomas would likely decided on USC, he backpedalled similar to one of his classic backfield moves.

Future star: Football fans not only got a look at Fargas, but also a young receiver from Alemany, who could be a fine player.

Deandre Scott, just 14, caught five passes for 57 yards including a touchdown for the Indians. ``He has the potential to be a great one,'' Alemany coach Jim Bonds said. ``He's just 14 and he's taking hits and making plays. I was very pleased with how we did.''

Scott is one of the first results of the new state rule which allows 14-year-olds to play football with a special physical and a parents signature.

DeAndre's brother Deon, a junior, is also a receiver.

The Indians played well at times but made key mistakes which took them out of the game in the second quarter.

``We will work on those mistakes so we won't make them again,'' Bonds said. ``We played well enough to have something to work on. We played hard.''

Little brother: Senior receiver Rod Arzu, who caught a 59-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter is the younger brother Wiki is aware of the following uses of "'Younger Brother":

Alvan could soon be the answer to a trivia question. Alvan was the Knights' starting tailback in 1995, Fargas' sophomore year.

Fargas, perhaps the best tailback ever to come out of the Valley, was relegated to playing fullback that season.

Nice start: Notre Dame coaches' concern about the debut of quarterback David DeMartinis was unwarranted.
