FAMILY FURY AT FATHER MURDER GANG CLAIMS; Thugs allege David had link to killing.
THE family of David Darcy last night told of their disgust at evil thugs who claim the dad of two was murdered in revenge for another killing.
His distraught father Henry Darcy hit out at a statement made by a renegade splinter group of the Continuity IRA alleging innocent meat delivery man David, 39, was gunned down because he was paid EUR20,000 for his involvement in the murder of Liam Kenny.
In another outrageous lie the scumbags claim David's home was being used as a safe house by a criminal drugs gang.
Popular Liverpool fan David was shot dead in the driveway of the house in Dublin's Cherry Orchard as he set off for work at Whelan's butchers on Ballyfermot Road shortly before 7am on Monday.
Now Henry is inconsolable at the disgraceful attempt by dissidents to smear his son's name who had nothing to do with drugs or criminality. It is now feared David was actually killed over a personal grudge.
Furious Henry told the Irish Daily Mirror: "He was an ordinary working man. He was nothing like that."
David's heartbroken brother Stephen was also sickened by the appalling slurs.
He said: "There's no truth in it. We don't know why and how or what, but something went wrong with their information."
Stephen, who is also a delivery man for the butcher, said whoever carried out the killing simply got it wrong and was now trying to justify their actions.
Stephen's partner Jennifer said: "David had no involvement in anything or we would have known of it."
The statement was issued yesterday by a named member of the rogue group claiming to be secretary of the CIRA army council "on behalf of the leadership of the CIRA".
It read: "The fact is that the dwelling was used as a safe house by a criminal drugs gang. Information supplied by the person led to the murder of the OC CIRA Dublin Liam Kenny and the shooting of an anti-drugs activist.
"We take the murder of any Republican seriously as Liam Kenny was an anti-drugs activist. We now avenge his murder."
Security sources said the group have nothing to do with the CIRA and are made up of thugs from Limerick and Dublin who split from the regular group over a year ago.
Mr Kenny, 53, was blasted to death when a gang of armed thugs tried to force their way into his house in Clondalkin, Co Dublin, in the early hours of June this year.
Mr Kenny was a member of Republican Sinn Fein, but the group said he left last July and became involved with a splinter group based in Limerick.
