--Moviemaking: The Screenplay screenplay

Written text that provides the basis for a film production. Screenplays usually include not only the dialogue spoken by the characters but also a shot-by-shot outline of the film's action.

--Improvisation, 1-2:30 p.m., Valencia Library.

--Movie Stunts by Stunt Kids, 2-4 p.m. (must be 10 years or older to participate), starts at Prado Town Center reception area, moves to Edwards Town Center theater.

--Cartoon Voice Over, 4-6 p.m., Prado Town Center reception area.

Monday:

--TV Production Us Performing Arts Camp, (limited to 30 students), 4-8 p.m., Public Access Channel 20, 22502 14th Street, Newhall.

--Storytelling, 4-6 p.m., Jo Anne Darcy Library.

Festival officials have partnered with Movies By Kids to present a series of fee-based summer classes called The Complete Young Filmmaker Workshop Series. Discounts will be give to families that have joined the festival as members. All workshops will be held at The Prado Town Center. Workshops include Animation and Claymation from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 21-25. Tuition is $325 for members, $350 for nonmembers, lab fees $25; Animation and Claymation repeats 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., July 19-23; fees are $325 for members, $350 for nonmembers, lab fees $25; Advanced Animation and Digital Filmmaking, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 9-13, fees $350 for members, $375 for nonmembers, $25 lab fee. Space for summer workshops is limited.

For adults, there are many workshops open for exploration. All workshops for adults are $15 for members, $20 for nonmembers and $10 for students and will be held at The Prado Town Center. They include:

Saturday:

--Pitch It, 2-3:30 p.m., featuring a panel of professional programmers, acquisitions and producing executives that will evaluate your story or movie idea.

--Distribution, 4-5:30 p.m., covers marketing and selling a family film.

Sunday:

--Film Financing, 2-3:30 p.m., covers finding the money for low- to midprice films.

--The Digital Revolution: Introduction to Digital, 4-5:30 p.m., a hands-on introduction to newest tools and techniques in filmmaking.

Monday:

--The New World of Animation, 5-6:30 p.m., panel discussion of traditional and computer animation.

Wednesday:

--Familiarization Tour, 8 a.m.-2 p.m., tour of locations, film ranches and studios in the valley. Lunch included.

--Screenwriters Round Table; 4-6:30, discussion of writing for the family audience by writers' representatives.

Workshops are limited to 28 people, R.S.V.P. required, seating is on a first-come, first-served “FCFS” redirects here. For the figure skating competition, see Four Continents Figure Skating Championships.
