The afternoon of the shootings, Vonda Stanfield had filed a complaint at the Los Angeles Police Department's Devonshire station, stemming from a confrontation with Calvin in a Northridge parking lot. She alleged spousal abuse against Calvin, a nine-year employee of the Los Angeles Bureau of Sanitation. After Vonda was shot, sheriff's deputies evacuated the condominium complex, closed off streets and flew in sharpshooters by helicopter. Four hours later, deputies stormed into the home and found the father and son dead. Among Dylan's surviving relatives are grandparents Allan and Nancy Brandli of Liberty, Texas; Connie and John Heefner of Houston; and Neil and Catalina Stanfield of Magalia, Calif. Others include great-grandparents Edward and Agnes Brandli of Warroad, Minn.; Aulis and Mildred Zink of Indianola, Neb.; Clarence Waddell of Friend, Neb.; and Cecilia Garcia of Sun Valley. |
