For more than 20 years the Baal family has been putting smiles on young kids' faces each Christmas.

``We enjoy dealing with people,'' said Tom Baal, who with his father, Tony, owns the business, started more than 20 years ago on a 2-acre site in Quartz Hill.

The Baals moved to their current 40-acre site, on the corner of 50th Street East and Avenue N, in 1989.

Customers can choose and cut down a tree themselves or have an employee cut it down for them. Some of the customers have the tree sheared sheared

 Tom, local schools bring in pupils for tours of the operation and an educational lesson on how the trees are grown.

Taking part in the family-owned business, besides Tom and Tony, are Tom's wife, Sheryl, who runs the gift shop selling handmade crafts, and 10-year-old son Brandon, who cuts down trees and drives a tractor to take them to customers' cars.

``I like cutting the trees and driving,'' Brandon said. ``The tips are fun, too.''

Even the family's German shepherd German shepherd, breed of large, muscular working dog perfected in Germany at the turn of the 20th cent. It stands about 25 in. (64 cm) high at the shoulder and weighs from 60 to 85 lb (27.2–38.5 kg).  greets people as they enter.

In addition to selling Christmas trees, the Baals grow landscape trees and plant them. Its main town is Lancaster, from which it obtained its city status. Other towns in the district include Morecambe, Heysham, Slyne, and Carnforth.  purchased some of those trees from the Baals for its new soccer complex.
