FAMILIES WORKING UP A LATHER KIDS SET TO COMPETE IN U.S. SOAPBOX DERBY.

CASTAIC - Two Castaic families are in Akron, Ohio Akron is a city in the U.S. state of Ohio and the county seat of Summit County.GR6 The municipality is located in northeastern Ohio on the Cuyahoga River between Cleveland to the north and Canton to the south, approximately 60 miles (96 km) west of , this week to participate in an American tradition dating back to 1934 - soapbox derby racing.

The soapbox derby tradition encourages families to work together, allowing parents to help their kids with the construction of the car.

``It has brought me and my dad closer together,'' Kim said. ``It has brought all of us closer. Before, me and my brother had nothing in common and we fought all the time. Now we have soapbox racing in common, so we fight about that.''

Dean Call, 12, spent two weeks building his soapbox car with his dad, Scott Call. Dean placed first in the Super Stock Division in May at La Canada Flintridge to qualify for his first trip to Akron with his dad and his mom (1) (Messaging-Oriented Middleware) See messaging middleware.
