FALL SPORTS NOTEBOOK: TEAM MAKES VOYAGE : VIEWPOINT IS IN 2ND PLACE.Byline: Heather Gripp Daily News Staff Writer When the Viewpoint volleyball team talks about sailing to a victory, the Patriots mean it literally. The Patriots traveled to Catalina to play Avalon today and Friday. It's the team's first time playing at Catalina since Avalon joined the league last year. It's a trip Liberty League teams are expecting to make every other year as they alternate home and away series. Earlier in the week, coach Frank Pontello wondered how his team would respond to the boat ride over. ``I know it's affected some players from other sports,'' he said. ``I'm hoping everything'll go fine.'' It hasn't always been smooth sailing for the Patriots this season, however. Viewpoint suffered a tough loss before the season even started when All-Southern Section player Lauren Campbell moved to Pittsburgh.
