CANYON COUNTRY - The Santa Clarita Santa Clarita, city (1990 pop. 110,642), Los Angeles co., S Calif., suburb 30 mi (48 km) NW of downtown Los Angeles, on the Santa Clara River; inc. 1987. The theme of the ceremony will be ``How Far Have We Come! How Far Must We Still Go?''

Mayor Frank Ferry will be the guest speaker and will be joined by clergy and worshippers from churches, temples and other congregations represented in the Interfaith Council.

Also featured will be music and prayers by local Interfaith participants honoring King's birthday. Faith communities belonging to the Interfaith Council are the Assemblies of God, Bahais, Catholics, The Church of Jesus Christ Church of Jesus Christ may refer to:
  • Christian Church, the body of all persons that share faith based in Christianity
  • Church of Jesus Christ–Christian, a white-supremacist church founded by Ku Klux Klan organizer Wesley A.
 of Latter-day Saints, Episcopalians, Muslims, Jews, Lutherans, Methodists, Science of Mind adherents and the Unity Church.

This is the ninth year the council has observed King's birthday with the purpose of celebrating its members' similarities and differences.

Donations will be accepted on behalf of the Santa Clarita Valley The Santa Clarita Valley is the valley of the Santa Clara River in Southern California. It stretches through Los Angeles County and Ventura County. Its main population center is the city of Santa Clarita. The valley was part of the 48,612-acre (19,672.  Homeless Shelter Homeless shelters are temporary residences for homeless people. Usually located in urban neighborhoods, they are similar to emergency shelters. The primary difference is that homeless shelters are usually open to anyone, without regard to the reason for need. .
