FACETS Names 2008 Board of Directors.


Dates Announced for Connections of the Heart Tours

FAIRFAX, Va. -- The Board of Directors of FACETS today announced the appointment of three new board members effective July1, 2007. Additionally, FACETS, a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization A non-profit organization (abbreviated "NPO", also "non-profit" or "not-for-profit") is a legally constituted organization whose primary objective is to support or to actively engage in activities of public or private interest without any commercial or monetary profit purposes.  that serves thousands of individuals and families who are homeless and in need in Fairfax County, announced the schedule for its Connections of the Heart Tours that will take place twice monthly throughout the year, beginning in June.

Joining the FACETS Board of Directors are Jane Halpern, LCSW LCSW Licensed Clinical Social Worker , Associate Pastor of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church Trinity Lutheran Church can refer to one of several churches listed in the United States National Register of Historic Places:
  • Trinity Lutheran Church in Atkins, Arkansas
  • Trinity Lutheran Church in Rutherfordton, North Carolina
, Patty Holley, consultant, and Michelle Bodley Radcliffe, partner with Isler Dare Ray & Radcliffe, P.C.

Dr. Poje noted that Sharon Marek has been appointed Vice President of the Board and that Carolyn McGee will continue to serve as Secretary and Victor Garcia as Treasurer.

FACETS Connections of the Heart Tours enable Fairfax area residents to see first hand how its innovative Family Enrichment and Homeless Intervention programs and services are making a difference to the lives of the homeless and those living in low-income housing communities in Fairfax County. ABOUT FACETS: Since its founding in 1988, FACETS (www.FacetsCares.org) has helped thousands of individuals and families who are impoverished live more productive and stable lives. The organization partners with individuals, over 80 faith communities, businesses, civic groups, foundations and the County government to fund its programs and services.  organization's partner churches prepares and delivers meals to people living in motels, in vehicles and outdoors.

FACETS social workers and medical outreach workers and nurses provide counseling, advocacy, referrals and health assessments. The FACETS Client Resource Center makes computers, telephones and fax machines available for people who are homeless to use. Other FACETS programs include permanent supportive housing and transitional supportive housing, case management, and educational programs at three of the County's subsidized housing communities.

FACETS is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization providing emergency intervention and educational programs for the more than 2,000 people who are homeless and precariously in Fairfax County. Nearly one-third of them are children. Helping individuals in need to help themselves, FACETS' three main programs include Homeless Intervention Services (HIS), Supportive Housing (SH), and Family Enrichment Services (FES). HIS provides emergency aid, such as food, shelter, clothing, and medical assistance to homeless children and adults in Fairfax County. SH provides both permanent and transitional supportive housing to singles and families. FES works with families living at three of the County's 31 public housing sites.
