Gardai believe 42-year-old Liam "Blackie black·ie

Murray may have been lying in the house for days before his body was discovered at 10am on Friday.

A friend found him upstairs in his home at Rockbrook Cottages, Rathfarnham, South Dublin, with gunshot wounds to the head.

Investigating officers believe Mr Murray was socialising at a bar on the junction between South Circular Road and Clonbrassil Street up to 6pm on St Patrick's Day and he was later seen in the Terenure area.

A spokesman said: "Gardai are appealing to anyone who may have seen Liam on or since St Patrick's Day or who may have been in the vicinity of Rockbrook Cottages in the days up to and after St Patrick's Day to contact the incident room in Terenure."

Mr Murray, who worked in a garage in nearby Templeogue, had been living alone at the Rathfarnham house for years.

A family member became worried when they had not heard from him in days and asked a friend to check on him.

No gun was found at the scene and there was no sign of forced entry.
