FABIO CAPELLO last night revealed he has already plotted the final stages of England's World Cup buildup - and promised that his Lions will travel to South Africa believing they can claim the ultimate glory.

The England chief spent two weeks at last month's Confederations Cup identifying the planned site for his side's base camp, understood to be either near Rustenburg or Potchefstroom, within an hour of Johannesburg.

That will give England the advantage of training at around 1,300 metres, a height which will give them altitude acclimatisation without putting too much stress on their bodies at the end of a long season.

Capello, who saw Brazil lift the Confederations Cup with a comeback triumph over the USA, said: "In the history of football, Brazil are the best team in the world; the number of World Cups they've won shows that.

"It won't be easy for us to win outside Europe but we have a chance.

"I always try to win with my teams. My mentality is such that when you play against any team, you play to win. I hope we can do it."

Capello missed the 4-0 defeat by Germany in the final of the under-21 European Championship but gave a boost to some of Stuart Pearce's heartbroken troops by indicating there are still places available in his squad.

"There are some players who played in Sweden who have already played with us, like Theo Walcott, Joe Hart and James Milner," said Capello.

"They are able to play with us and, in the future, I think that we will have new players with us.

"I've spoken a lot with Stuart about new players and sometimes followed his advice.''
