FAA Awards Gallium Follow-on Contract; InterMAPhics Software Selected to Expand the Display Capabilities for the FAA's Enroute Simulator Used for Human Factors Testing.Business Editors, High Tech Writers ATLANTIC CITY, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 24, 2000 ATCA 2000 - Gallium gallium Ga 67 citrate a radiopharmaceutical imaging agent used to image neoplasms, particularly of soft tissues, and sites of inflammation and abscess. gal·li·um (g l, a leading provider of user interface software for performance-critical applications, is pleased to announce that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has awarded a follow-on contract based at the FAA Civil Aeromedical Institute (CAMI), Oklahoma City. Gallium previously replicated the Display System Replacement (DSR) Computer-Human Interface (CHI) using its InterMAPhics(R) software toolkit. During the next phase of the program, Gallium will deliver both engineering services and a flight strip editor expanding the capabilities of the FAA's Advanced ATC Research Simulator used by Human Factors scientists for evaluating the enroute CHI. Dr. Carol Manning, Engineering Research Psychologist for CAMI, states, "When the flight strip editor has been completed, it will be possible to reconfigure both data block and flight strip formats for use in studies conducted using CAMI's Advanced ATC Research Simulator." "This is an exciting program for Gallium because it shows the flexibility of our product to replicate a customer's CHI. Now we're looking forward to working with CAMI to assess the effects of alternative ATC display formats on controller workload and performance," said Bob Deroode, Director of Air Traffic Management for Gallium. About CAMI The Civil Aeromedical Institute (CAMI), under direction of the Federal Air Surgeon, conducts medical research applicable to the mission of the FAA. CAMI's research centers on the human factors of aviation safety by looking at the causes of aircraft accidents and how to prevent them. www.cami.jccbi.gov/ About Gallium Gallium is an international leader in the development of Human-Computer Interaction (software, hardware) Human-Computer Interaction - (HCI) The study of how humans interact with computers, and how to design computer systems that are easy, quick and productive for humans to use.
