Graciela Iturbide married the architect Manuel Rocha Diaz in 1962. She had three children from this marriage.

Graciela Iturbide photographs the Zapotec Zapotec (zä`pətĕk, sä`–), indigenous people of Mexico, primarily in S Oaxaca and on the Isthmus of Tehuantepec.
