), the nation's third-largest retail optical chain, announces the opening of its first Doctor's VisionWorks store May 30 at Northlake Mall Northlake Mall can refer to the following:

 in Atlanta -- to be followed by seven more throughout the city by mid-summer.

To commemorate the opening, the company has partnered with Georgia Lions Lighthouse Foundation to create "The Atlanta Glasses Giveaway," providing free eye exams and free glasses to homeless, elderly and other needy people served by the local offices of the Salvation Army Salvation Army, Protestant denomination and international nonsectarian Christian organization for evangelical and philanthropic work. The Salvation Army has established branches in 100 countries throughout the world.

Gallas said seven additional stores will open by July, creating an annual payroll of more than $4 million, with yet more stores slated to open in the Atlanta area in 2004 and 2005. All the new stores will be located in malls.

The seven remaining stores for 2003 will be located at The Mall at Stonecrest The Mall at Stonecrest is a shopping mall in Lithonia, Georgia east of Atlanta along Interstate 20.

The Mall at Stonecrest opened in 2001 as part of a Master Planned Community on the growing I-20 corridor.
