ExxonMobil and its Employees and Retirees Contribute More than $16.6 Million to United Way in Houston - Baytown Areas.

The fourth largest city in the nation and the largest in the entire South and Southwest, Houston is a port of entry;
 -- ExxonMobil announced today that its total corporate, employee and retiree contributions to the United Way in the Houston and Baytown areas reached a record total of $16.6 million. The announcement was made during a celebration at NCI See Liberate.  Ripley House Community Center where checks for $10.6 million and $1.4 million were presented to the United Way of Greater Houston Houston–Sugar Land–Baytown is a 10-county metropolitan area defined by the Office of Management and Budget. It is located along the Gulf Coast region in the U.S. state of Texas.  and United Way of Baytown, respectively. The funds will assist those benefiting from services provided by the nonprofit A corporation or an association that conducts business for the benefit of the general public without shareholders and without a profit motive.

Nonprofits are also called not-for-profit corporations. Nonprofit corporations are created according to state law.
 and its affiliated agencies.

The company contributed an additional $4.6 million through ExxonMobil Volunteer Involvement Program grants earned by employee and retiree volunteers at various United Way affiliated agencies as well as through gifts-in-kind donations, corporate loaned executives and administrative personnel to assist with the heavy work load at already burdened social service agencies.
