, today announced that Lloyd Somers has joined the Company as executive director of IT applications & operations.

Somers comes to Exult from a career in IT management which spanned fifteen years with Weyerhaeuser, the global forestry products giant. During this time, Somers established himself as a recognized leader in the field of process redesign. He brings to Exult a proven track record in creating and managing systems solutions capable of delivering significant improvements in all aspects of business operations Business operations are those activities involved in the running of a business for the purpose of producing value for the stakeholders. In addition to in-depth technical knowledge and broad experience of all IT disciplines, Somers possesses outstanding credentials in M&A and JV activities, international commerce, recruiting and the blending of IT and business strategies.

In his new role at Exult, Somers will be responsible for running the IT support side of the Company's technology organization, including operational and technical infrastructure, project implementation and facilities build-out. He will report directly to Richard Jones, senior vice president of international operations Internal Operations (I.O., IO or I/O) is a fictional American Intelligence Agency in Wildstorm comics. At Weyerhaeuser, a company with worldwide revenues of $16 billion and a member of the Fortune 200 since 1956, Somers served as Director of Information Technology for the Containerboard, Packaging and Recycling division (CBPR CBPR Community-Based Participatory Research ). With $3 billion in annual revenues, CBPR has over 12,000 employees spread across 60 U.S. manufacturing facilities. Somers' list of achievements includes IT leadership on a $100 million project designed to accomplish the total re-engineering of all business operating processes. His successful implementation of an ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) An integrated information system that serves all departments within an enterprise. Evolving out of the manufacturing industry, ERP implies the use of packaged software rather than proprietary software written by or for one customer.  system designed to support the objectives of rebuilding these processes from their foundation resulted in over $50 million in identifiable savings for the organization. Other notable contributions during his tenure included the introduction of a data warehouse capable of delivering accurate and timely information across 46 separate manufacturing facilities. In all, Somers was ultimately accountable for the successful delivery of more than 36 projects in a four-year period.

In addition to his extensive project leadership in the U.S., Somers also has considerable international experience. He worked alongside a number of Weyerhaeuser's European strategic partners and was charged with overall responsibility for the institution of system solutions in plant start-up operations in China and Mexico.

Somers began his IT career as a computer operator for Systematics systematics: see classification. , Inc. in Jonesboro, Arkansas, before moving on to a number of information and systems development management posts at a variety of Jonesboro companies. He began his association with Weyerhaeuser in 1984 as a Project Manager for the Eastern Building Materials Distribution division. By 1988, he had risen to the post of Information Services See Information Systems.  Manager and, in 1991, was appointed manager of Information Technology for the Southern Lumber/Plywood division. He remained there until accepting the post of CBPR Director of Information Technology in 1996.
