Extended registration process fails to yield expected increases.

IN the past, Oct. 4 would have been the deadline for registering to vote for the Nov. 2 presidential election. But two years ago, in a bid to boost turnout, the state legislature A state legislature may refer to a legislative branch or body of a political subdivision in a federal system.

The following legislatures exist in the following political subdivisions:
extended the deadline to two weeks before the election. The new cutoff kicks in for the first time this year, with Oct. 18 as the deadline.

The question is whether the later cut-off cut-off Anesthesiology The point at which elongation of the carbon chain of the 1-alkanol family of anesthetics results in a precipitous drop in the anesthetic potential of these agents–eg, at > 12 carbons in length, there is little anesthetic activity,  will help boost voter turnout.

As of Sept. 2, there were 3.8 million registered voters in Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  County--about 67 percent of the total eligible. Heffron said she's expecting a surge of voter registrations this week around the old deadline, and a bigger one at the new deadline.

"The theory is, the closer you are to Election Day, the more intense the voter interest and the more people sign up to vote. This is going to be the first test of that theory in practice," Heffron said.

Meanwhile, she said there is still a shortage of about 3,000 poll workers, primarily in the San Fernando Valley San Fernando Valley
