Extell unveils Stanhope 'masterwork' at 995 Fifth.

A limited edition of 26 residences, designed by Rosario Candela and interpreted by John Simpson, are now offered for sale at The Stanhope, 995 Fifth Avenue.

Extell Development has commissioned famed classicist John Simpson who is best known for designing the Queen's Gallery at Buckingham Palace to design The Stanhope residences and interior finishes. This location on Fifth Avenue, opposite the world famous Metropolitan Museum of Art, is certainly one of the most desired addresses in the world. Half-floor residences begin at $10 million and the Penthouse is expected to sell for close to $50 million. It is the first completely new construction of residences on Fifth Avenue in 10 years.

The Stanhope will epitomize the ultimate aspiration: an address without peer and an impeccable architectural pedigree. Opposite the south wing of the Metropolitan Museum of Art and overlooking Central Park, the building stands where Fifth Avenue is at its most regal and picturesque.

Originally designed by pre-eminent New York architect Rosario Candela in 1926, John Simpson, a world leader in the design of traditional classical buildings, will rebuild The Stanhope as a private, residential cooperative. The resulting 26 masterwork residences are of rare elegance and scale featuring exquisite detailing and lavish interiors that will define the legacy of The Stanhope.

Half-floor homes are over 4,000 square feet while full-floor homes feature over 8,000 square feet. The two story penthouse boasts more than 7,000 square feet of interior space and 5,000 square feet of outdoor space. All homes feature elegant gallery entries, family sized kitchens for cooking and entertaining, formal dining rooms, expansive drawing rooms, master bedroom suites with radiant heat in the master bathroom floors. Full floor residences and the penthouse include wood and gas burning fireplaces.

Owners at The Stanhope are offered the unique opportunity to customize their residence using a wide selection of rarely available materials specified by John Simpson, including Smallbone fine English cabinetry and Lefroy Brooks fixtures. Owners may also select their choice of flooring and border details, ceiling moldings, and from an extensive selection of stone for kitchens, bathrooms and entries.
