Expresiv Technologies, the leading provider of speech recognition technology that works for medical documents, today announced that veteran technology executive Frank Reeves has been appointed as the company's new president and chief executive officer replacing Tom Herring.

Herring remains active in leading the company, as he assumes the position of chairman of Expresiv's board of directors. Other key executive management appointments announced today include Chris Foley, as vice president of operations and Doug Miller who assumes the position of vice president of marketing. All of these executive changes took affect on Oct. 1, 2002.

Reeves sees significant opportunities to fuel growth in the current healthcare market and is already redefining the company's business model and operations to take advantage of them. The restructuring currently under way focuses on accelerated development of key products and services, revised marketing strategy and a renewed focus on recruiting and retaining key channel partners -- all to extend Expresiv's reach by combining instantaneous speech recognition with deferred speech recognition-enabled transcription services.

Frank Reeves has more than 16 years executive and financial services experience. He joined Expresiv as COO in April 2002. Prior to joining Expresiv, Frank served as executive vice president and CFO of publicly held Luminex Corporation, a leading developer of biological testing technologies for the life sciences industry.

Prior to Luminex, Frank served for more than seven years as a Partner at PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PWC) where he was responsible for a variety of transactions in the technology sector, including initial public offerings, mergers and acquisitions and strategy consulting. Frank holds a B.S. in Marketing and Accounting and an M.S. in Taxation from the University of Baltimore.

Tom Herring joined Expresiv in March 2002 from Polaris Venture Partners and provides more than 28 years of executive management experience in the high technology industry. Prior to his role as a general partner at Polaris Venture Partners, he served as president and CEO of NuMega Technologies Inc., where he positioned NuMega as a leader for advanced error detection and debugging software. Prior to NuMega, Tom served as vice president of corporate marketing for Sybase Inc., where he oversaw all strategic, corporate and channel marketing initiatives.

Tom also served as vice president of sales, marketing and business development for Powersoft Corporation, an early client/server software company that had a successful IPO in 1993 and was acquired by Sybase in 1995 for approximately $900 million. In the same year, Tom was recognized as the "High Technology Sales and Marketing Executive of the Year" by Upside magazine. Tom holds an M.S. in Statistics and Economics and a B.B.A. in Marketing from Texas Tech University.

Chris Foley brings over 17 years of executive senior management experience in the healthcare industry to Expresiv. He was most recently chief operating officer of Argo Systems, a technology leveraged consolidator in the medical industry. Prior to that, Foley served as vice president/COO at IR Inc., a medical billing, transcription and performance analytics company, where he was responsible for company operations, technology initiatives and global market development.

Prior to IR, he served as vice president of operations at Rodeer Services Inc., vice president at publicly held MedQuist Inc., founded and served as chief executive officer of C. Foley & Associates Inc., a communications consulting and technology provider, and he began his career at Lanier Worldwide. His education includes an undergraduate degree in Marketing and a graduate degree in Business Administration.

In his role as vice president of marketing, Doug Miller is responsible for leading and developing Expresiv's strategic marketing and channel initiatives for all products and services. With over 30 years experience in the technology industry, Miller brings deep domain expertise and a proven track record to Expresiv. He most recently served as vice president of sales and marketing at Partnerware where he was responsible for all aspects of sales and marketing.

Prior to Partnerware Miller was chief marketing officer at Hire.com where he directed all marketing activities leading a repositioning effort to transform the company into a successful Application Service Provider, and played a key role in major sales and strategic partnering opportunities. Prior to Hire.com, Miller held key marketing and sales roles at Dazel Corporation, Powersoft, Candle Corporation, Quantum Access and Computer Corporation of America.
