SALES of broadsheet newspapers have sensationally collapsed, it was revealed yesterday. In the biggest crisis to hit the so-called 'serious' papers for decades, all five have fallen by more by than FOUR per cent.

BANG! The Daily Telegraph has plunged by 4.28%. CRASH! The Times has spiralled by 5.61%. WALLOP! The Guardian has slumped by 4.31%. BANG! The Financial Times has depressed by 6.95%. CRASH! The Independent has dropped by 6.94% and WALLOP! all four Sunday broadsheets have disintegrated too.

Last night there was a deafening silence from the broadsheet media commentators. The Telegraph's Kim Fletcher Kim Fletcher is a British journalist and media consultant, born in 1956.

Educated at Heversham Grammar School, Westmorland, and Hertford College, Oxford, where he read law, Fletcher worked for various newspapers before being appointed news editor of

He also writes a column for the London Evening Standard. , Times' Philippa Kennedy, Independent's David Lister, and Financial Times' Gautam Malkani Gautam Malkani is the author of the novel Londonstani. Twenty-nine-year-old Gautam Malkani is a journalist for The Financial Times and head of the Creative Business section. He has worked on the UK news desk in London as well as in the Washington bureau.  were all preparing to forget to mention their own plight.

Instead they were planning more twisted bile on the stunningly successful Daily Mirror, which has taken on more than 100,000 readers a day in January.
