Existing Coal-Fired Boiler to Be Retrofitted With SCR for DeNOx Technology.

SANTA ANA, Calif. -- Wahlco, Inc. received an award from Mitsubishi Power Systems to supply ammonia system equipment for the Xcel Energy, A.S. King Station Rehabilitation Project. The existing coal-fired boiler is to be equipped with a Selective Catalytic Reduction Selective catalytic reduction (SCR) is a means of removing nitrogen oxides, often the most abundant and polluting component in exhaust gases, through a chemical reaction between the exhaust gases, a (reductant) additive, and a catalyst.  (SCR (Sequence Control Register) See program counter. ) System for NOx control. The SCR will be supplied with ammonia from a new ammonia system to be designed and built by Wahlco. The Wahlco Ammonia System will be designed to deliver as much as 7,680 pounds per hour of 19% aqueous ammonia. The system will consist of a Dilution Air / Heater Skid and an Ammonia Flow Control and Vaporization vaporization, change of a liquid or solid substance to a gas or vapor. There is fundamentally no difference between the terms gas and vapor, but gas is used commonly to describe a substance that appears in the gaseous state under standard conditions of  Skid, both installed in a Wahlco supplied building. Wahlco will also manufacture the Ammonia Injection Grid (AIG AIG addressee indicator group (US DoD)
AIG American International Group, Inc

) for the SCR System.

Founded in 1972, Wahlco designs and manufactures air pollution control systems including flue gas conditioning equipment, anhydrous and aqueous ammonia systems, and urea to ammonia (U2A(TM)) conversion systems for energy utilities, refineries, and industrial clients. Wahlco, Inc. (formerly Wahlco Environmental Systems) is privately held. Located in Santa Ana, California Santa Ana is the most populous city in Orange County, California and is the county seat.
