Managing ongoing relationships outside the organization is a key responsibility. Communications manager. An international trade association in Northbrook, Illinois, seeks a dynamic individual to be responsible for all internal and external communication vehicles. The position reports to the director of marketing and communications. The ideal candidate will be responsible for writing and editing a monthly publication, newsletters, press releases, and feature articles for the trade press and planning and coordinating the related production schedules. The position will oversee copyediting, preparation for the printer, and proofreading of all materials.

Associate executive director. The National Society of Professional Engineers, Alexandria, Virginia (annual budget at the national level: approximately $6 million; staff: about 80), seeks an associate executive director to work with the executive director, officers, and staff in managing the internal operations of NSPE, an association of 70,000 licensed engineers who are also members of nearly 500 state society chapters.

Responsibilities include strategic planning, resource allocation, program evaluation, multiple project management, and conflict resolution.

A college degree and extensive experience in association management, engineering management, or general business management are required. Experience with information systems management, oversight of publications, effective written and verbal communication, and continuous improvement skills are also desired.
