Executive Software ships DISKEEPER disk defragmenter for Windows NT.

GLENDALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 28, 1995--Friday Executive Software began shipping its DISKEEPER on-line disk defragmenter for the Microsoft Windows NT operating system -- the most eagerly awaited product in Executive Software's 14-year history.

Executive Software (a Windows NT source licensee) and Microsoft began planning a Windows NT version of the product even before the release of Windows NT in July, 1993. The two companies have worked together over the past 22 months to make DISKEEPER a safe and effective enhancement to the Windows NT operating system. Microsoft recommends Executive Software as a preferred vendor of defragmentation software.

Executive Software is shipping two distinct versions of the product -- DISKEEPER for Microsoft Windows NT Server and Windows NT Workstation. Both version include the following capabilities and features:

-- On-line defragmentation in the background while the system is up and running, and disks are in active use.

-- Safe defragmentation of all types of files and free space.

-- Idle system resource implementation, so you can use your system for production while disks are defragmented automatically, on-line.

-- Support for all SCSI and IDE disks, including all levels of RAID configurations.

-- Full multi-processor support.

-- A graphic display showing DISKEEPER at work defragmenting files.

-- Compatibility with Windows NT 3.5, and Windows NT 3.5 with Service Pack 1 or 2.

DISKEEPER for Windows NT Server includes the following additional capabilities:

-- System administration control of defragmentation at remote workstations.

-- Ability to start and stop defragmentation on remote drives, and set defragmentation scheduling for remote workstations (as long as the remote workstation is running DISKEEPER for Windows NT Workstation).

DISKEEPER for Windows NT is priced at $199 for Windows NT Workstation and $399 for Windows NT Server. There are no client access charges.
