Exciting developments: CEUs, new associate editor, and online manuscript submission.I want to take this opportunity to bring Professional School Counseling readers up to date on three exciting new developments we're launching with this issue. First, we are excited to announce that starting with this issue, ASCA ASCA American School Counselor Association ASCA Australian Shepherd Club of America ASCA Arab Society of Certified Accountants ASCA American Swimming Coaches Association ASCA American Society of Consulting Arborists ASCA Association of State Correctional Administrators is now offering PSC (Public Service Commission) Same as PUC. readers the opportunity to earn continuing education units continuing education unit (CEU), n educational classes or experiences for licensed dental professionals that extend, update, or renew their knowledge of practices in their field. Some classes may be required for relicensing. (CEUs) for reading articles in the journal. Subscribers can earn 0.1 CEUs for each article, and they can earn approximately 1.0 CEUs for a complete journal. Here is how this program works. After you read a journal article or the complete issue, simply log onto the ASCA Web site (www.schoolcounselor.org) to take a short quiz for each article. There is a small fee to cover the expenses of this service ($10 for members and $15 for nonmembers). This one fee covers all of the quizzes in a particular issue of the journal; you are, of course, welcome to take only a portion of the quizzes if you choose. Or take some now and come back later to take the others. The quizzes are automatically scored, and the CEUs earned automatically recorded in ASCA's Web-based database, allowing users to check their own record of CEUs earned at any time. This service launches with this October 2005 issue of PSC. ASCA is an International Association for Continuing Education continuing education: see adult education. continuing education or adult education Any form of learning provided for adults. IACET's criteria and guidelines, created in 1968, are at the core of thousands of educational programs worldwide. IACET certification is the standard that learners seek for quality. To ensure this service meets the highest of standards set by ASCA and IACET, we have created the position of associate editor of PSC. Although the associate editor will deal with all aspects related to running the journal, the associate editor's primary responsibility is to oversee this CEU CEU Continuing Education Unit CEU Central European University CEU College of Eastern Utah (Price, UT) CEU Centro Escolar University (Manila, Philippines) CEU Centro Escolar University program. The associate editor works with authors, the editor, and related ASCA staff to ensure that the highest of standards are consistently met. Richard Auger auger (ô`gər): see drill. auger Tool (or bit) used with a carpenter's brace for drilling holes, usually in wood. It looks like a corkscrew and produces extremely clean holes, almost regardless of how large the bit is. , Ph.D., is PSC's new associate editor. Dr. Auger is an associate professor and counselor educator at Minnesota State University--Mankato. Readers will recognize his name from the several fine studies he has published in PSC. As editor, I have come to know and rely upon him and his work as a valued and trusted member of the Editorial Review Board. We are fortunate he has enthusiastically agreed to share his talents and time in continuing to make PSC a highly respected journal. His primary responsibility as associate editor is to coordinate the program that will allow our subscribers to earn CEUs by reading PSC articles. And last but certainly not least, we've moved to a Web-based system for the journal manuscript review process. To submit articles, potential authors should visit the ASCA Web site and click on the Professional School Counseling button on the home page. They then will receive detailed instructions walking them through the submission process. Or, check out the author guidelines on the inside back cover of this journal. Through this new system, authors can set up an account and then track for themselves where their manuscripts are in the review process. Editorial Board members are now able to do all of their review work online. This software allows us to take another step in improving the efficiency and effectiveness of PSC by meeting the needs of authors, subscribers, and the larger goals of our profession. Special Thanks I want to take this opportunity to thank Kathleen Rakestraw for her vision and follow-through in making it possible that we now have a CEU program, an associate editor, and a Web-based review process. These efforts truly enhance the stature and reputation of the journal and move us dramatically forward. Without Kathleen's ideas and leadership, none of these things "These Things" is an EP by She Wants Revenge, released in 2005 by Perfect Kiss, a subsidiary of Geffen Records. Music Video The music video stars Shirley Manson, lead singer of the band Garbage. Track Listing 1. "These Things [Radio Edit]" - 3:17 2. would be available. Working together has truly been a very rewarding experience for me. All of us who are committed to advancing the field of professional school counseling have benefited from Kathleen's work.
