Customers deploying the Verity Engine for XIS can integrate the vast amount of unstructured corporate information with structured XML data that can then be leveraged and extended by applications both inside the enterprise and beyond. The Verity engine for XIS also enables customers to quickly access the abundance of valuable corporate data residing in XML documents by providing full-text indexing and high performance querying of XML documents stored in XIS.

"As XML continues to become more widely adopted, many companies are now realizing the need to access critical information housed in their XML documents as part of a corporate information strategy," said Jon Bachman, VP of XML Products for eXcelon. "By introducing the Verity Engine for XIS product, we've addressed this need and companies can embrace XML with the confidence that they can have full text search capabilities for the documents stored natively in XIS."

XIS enables companies building distributed and Web service applications to manage large collections of XML documents without compromising the inherent flexibility of XML. By managing XML business documents in memory at the node level, XIS enables XML documents to be dynamically extended throughout the life of a long-running asynchronous Refers to events that are not synchronized, or coordinated, in time. In addition, node-level management ensures the speed and throughput necessary to support the performance requirements of today's mission critical applications.

By deploying the Verity Engine for XIS as part of an application architecture, companies can easily address the following application requirements:
- Catalogue and store documents in their native formats such as text files and
word processing documents.

- Perform high-speed text searches.

- Index and search for documents of any type on any text attribute such as
keyword lists or descriptions.

- Obtain fast, incremental word index updating when document contents change.

- Secure files with concurrency control, backup and failure recovery.

- Share policy, procedure, and guideline documents in an online document
repository.

- Add high-speed, relevancy-ranked text document search capabilities to
internet and intranet applications.

- Leverage content by adding XML structure to unstructured text.

The Verity Engine for XIS fully incorporates the rich search capabilities of the industry's leading full text search engine to deliver the following enabling developers to:
