TORONTO -- Excellon Resources Inc. (TSX TSX Toronto Stock Exchange (TSE before April, 2002)

VENTURE:EXN EXN The Exploration Network ) is pleased to announce assay results from the 9.3 metre massive sulphide intercept made at its 100% owned Platosa Project in late December (See Press Release of 12/21/05), as announced December 21, 2005. The sulphides were cut between 139.25 and 148.64 metres downhole in drill hole LP05-132 and average 1516 g/t silver (Ag) (49 oz/t), 16.4% lead (Pb), and 15% zinc (Zn) (see table below). The intercept includes 6.14 metres grading 1,918 g/t silver (62 oz/t), 19.6% lead and 15.6% zinc.

Hole LP05-132 lies well outside the area of the currently outlined indicated resource, being approximately 95 metres northeast of the 6 Manto and 145 metres east-northeast of the N-1 Manto and was targeted on a structure indicated by Natural Source Audio Magneto magneto: see generator.

Core recovery was over 95% for all but a one-metre section where recovery was under 30%. The intercept is very similar to the high-grade mineralization Mineralization

Drilling to seek lateral continuations of this intercept will begin shortly.

Excellon's Chairman, Richard Brissenden, said: "We're extremely pleased to get such excellent results from this intercept, as this mineralization lies well outside the resource we're currently mining and we're hoping it reflects discovery of a sizeable new sulphide body. In anticipation of proving this, and reflecting the fact that we cut it on the morning of the day of the Virgin of Guadalupe, Mexico's patron saint, we have named this the "Guadalupe Manto". This marks the second significant sulphide intercept found with our current targeting techniques and we are preparing to drill similar coincident geophysical and geochemical anomalies elsewhere in the area."
