For more than a decade, FWB's products have been rated by many industry trade magazines as being in a class by themselves, and the latest version of Hard Disk ToolKit is no exception.

3.0 was rated by the April issue of MacAddict as "Freakin' Awesome," the highest rating available from the Mac community's most acclaimed magazine.

One of the most noticeable features of the latest version of Hard Disk ToolKit is the improved interface. David Reynolds, the reviewer, called Hard Disk ToolKit's new tabbed interface as "plenty easy to navigate."

This new streamlined interface allows users to switch between different views and functions such as physical devices, logical volumes, RAID creation, and benchmarking with a single click. The easy-to-use drag and drop A graphical user interface (GUI) capability that lets you perform operations by moving the icon of an object with the mouse into another window or onto another icon. For example, files can be copied or moved by dragging them from one folder to another.  interface also allow users to create arrays, apply encryption, or update the driver simply by dragging a selected drive to the appropriate icons.

Also mentioned favorably by the reviewer are the exciting RAID features. Formerly a separate $299 package, RAID ToolKit is now part of Hard Disk ToolKit. With Hard Disk ToolKit's RAID functionality, a user can combine free space from two or more devices to create one high-performance storage volume for greater capacity, stronger security, or increased speed.

While no benchmark results were published by MacAddict Magazine, a user can expect the performance of a Level-0 RAID to be at least 80% better than that of a similar single drive.

David also brought up one of HDT 3.0's hot new features -- the ability to make Adobe Photoshop See Photoshop.  scratch partitions. By reserving a special partition on the outer tracks of the hard disk, one can expect a noticeable boost in Photoshop performance over that of a single volume drive. The custom scratch partition can also be used for other disk intensive applications such as Adobe Premiere and Fractal Design Painter See Painter. .

David, who is the Editor-in-Chief of MacAddict Magazine summed it up best in his conclusion, "This comprehensive utility suite covers all things related to your hard drive, including RAID, SCSI SCSI

While many companies would ponder the success of a good review of their products, FWB is determined to push the limits of disk storage utility on the next generation of Hard Disk ToolKit even further. With the help of many Mac users, FWB has just completed its first product survey.

More than 1,500 Mac users participated in a poll regarding Hard Disk ToolKit and future storage trends. The feedback they provided was invaluable. Even though the next generation of Hard Disk ToolKit is still on the drawing board, FWB is confident that it will be a substantial leap over the current one.
