Excel announces move to new facility; Company growing at 100 percent per year.

HYANNIS, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 7, 1995--Excel Inc., designer of innovative programmable switching systems, announced today that it is moving to a new facility in Hyannis, Mass., which will house its worldwide headquarters operations.

The facility lies on a 8-acre campus setting in Independence Park, a high-tech industrial park in Hyannis, Mass., located adjacent to Cape Cod's Barnstable Municipal Airport. The site consists of 85,000 sq. ft. of space located in three buildings. It will support their rapidly growing operation with space for expansion as needs arise.

"We were seeking facilities that would solve our need for increased space, accommodate future expansion, and keep the company in a single location. We also wanted to address a number of customer and market needs including ease of access, expanded customer training and support facilities, and a business environment that adequately reflects the company's prominence in the telecommunications industry. It was a challenge to find a campus location addressing our requirements on Cape Cod, and it took over two years to select the new facility."

The new space enables the company to initiate a number of programs. Excel conducts product integration and testing in its production facility while using outside assembly and test houses for various manufacturing operations. The new space enables the company to expand its production while streamlining operations and providing space for new product testing systems.

Another area where significant change will be noticed is in the area of customer service. The company will establish a high profile customer reception and corporate briefing center, as well as new demonstration and training facilities. The facility will house a business center that will be used for multi-media services, customer and corporate communications. Excel's systems engineering group, which provides customer education and technical support, will have its own telecommunications lab where customers can benchmark their applications and garner access to Excel's programmable network simulation environment.

The company selected the site partially for its convenience. The facility lies adjacent to Cape Cod's Barnstable Municipal Airport, with direct service from Boston, Newark and several area airports. The facility is in Hyannis, just off Route 6 on Cape Cod, 1.5 hours from Boston by bus or car, and convenient to hotels, restaurants and shopping. It is also situated in Independence Park, the high-tech industrial area of the Cape. "We like the prospect of contributing to the economy of Cape Cod, where many of our employees live. Excel will enhance the Cape's employment base with high-tech professional employment opportunities, and may encourage other professional businesses to locate here," said Madonna.
