communications in the European Community. Compliance testing was completed during May. Excel met all three Directives (described below) for Euro-ISDN, as well as the Deviations defining the French and German deltas.

"This achievement marks another milestone in Excel's compliance program," said Bob Madonna, president of Excel. "Our North American compliance program includes NEBS, UL/CUL and FCC (1) (Federal Communications Commission, Washington, DC, www.fcc.gov) The U.S. government agency that regulates interstate and international communications including wire, cable, radio, TV and satellite. The FCC was created under the U.S.  certifications for both the U.S. and Canada. European compliance is part of a corporate strategy to achieve compliance in our key markets worldwide. Our strategy is to continue achieving country-specific approvals based on the areas of the world where our systems are being deployed; the next test will be conducted with Australia." said Mr. Madonna.

To meet the requirements for Euro-ISDN and achieve CE Mark, companies must meet a set of Directives, including Low Voltage Directives for safety and electrical compliance, EMC Directives for emissions, and Telecommunications Terminal Equipment Directives which apply to "harmonized" standards where common technical requirements can be tested. CTR See click-through rate.  4 applies to harmonized ISDN standards, while CTR 12 applies to harmonized E1/120 Ohm telecommunications standards. Excel met the requirements for both CTR 12 and CTR 4, which includes pan-European approval. The next category includes Deviations, of which there are only two for ISDN compliance: German and French; Excel completed compliance testing with both.

In addition to Euro-ISDN, Excel achieved the Country-Specific Approval for DASS 2 throught BABT.
