DETROIT and RICHMOND, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 11, 2000

"Fast Cars. Faster Headache Relief" Promotion with Wal-Mart

Excedrin(R), "The Headache Medicine," is capitalizing on the popularity of NASCAR NASCAR (National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing), organization that sanctions American stock-car races, est. 1948. It held its first race in Daytona Beach, Fla.  in the South to deliver sales gains with its "Fast Cars. Faster Headache Relief" promotion.

While Excedrin sponsors NASCAR Busch Grand National Series driver, Jason Keller Jason Keller is a NASCAR driver. He currently drives the #27 Brewco Motorsports Ford in select Busch Series races, sharing the ride with Ward Burton, and the #11 Force Protection Inc Chevrolet for CJM Racing. , on the national level, the company wanted to make its NASCAR team sponsorship come alive on the local level. The goal was to make the intense loyalty of NASCAR fans rub off on Excedrin. The theory was that sales increases and brand loyalty would follow.

Chancellor Marketing Group, developed the "Fast Cars. Faster Headache Relief" promotion to give race fans a chance to win a "Headache-Free Race Day" trip to a NASCAR race in their market. Excedrin flew ten winners and their guests by helicopter to and from the race (avoiding the traffic tie-ups that race fans frequently encounter). Winners got the full VIP treatment with great seats, food and beverages. They also received an Excedrin premium race kit complete with custom-designed t-shirt, drink koozie, insulated bag, ear plugs and samples of Excedrin. Winners were selected at Micro Reality racing events at Wal-Mart stores and from a toll free number sweepstakes drawing. Four race markets were scheduled for March and April: Atlanta, Dallas, Nashville and Talladega.

To build interest and excitement, Micro Reality events were held at Wal-Mart stores in the four race cities. A mini-track was set up and contestants raced actual scale model cars by remote control. A show car was also displayed outside Wal-Mart stores, complete with a life-sized Jason Keller cut-out. Five top winners of the Micro Reality events and their guests won the VIP helicopter trip to the Busch Grand National race in their market. The toll free number sweepstakes was held for those who could not attend the Micro Reality events and an additional five winners were picked from each market to go to the race in style.

On a national level, Excedrin is holding a sweepstakes in which the grand prize winner will be awarded a coveted cov·et
