Exadel Submits ''Enterprise Component Framework Project'' to Eclipse Foundation; Open Source Project to Provide Comprehensive Platform for Building Server Applications in Java.

The Enterprise Component Framework Project's goal is to create a comprehensive, component-based model that will give enterprise application development teams an unprecedented level of flexibility to build business applications. By taking a component-based approach to enterprise application development, the project will allow enterprise developers to create and re-use enterprise components without targeting any specific environment, such as J2EE or J2SE, resulting in a new breed of enterprise components that can run both on server or client sides.

Decreasing both the cost and time of enterprise application development, application development teams can tap the Enterprise Component Framework to assemble and reassemble software components in new and flexible configurations. The project will also allow developers to incrementally acquire and install software components, and conversely, to decouple and/or distribute development to outside entities, giving organizations a new level of flexibility, reusability and adaptability over their software development process.

The new project also includes a number of capabilities that are designed to broaden and advance the Eclipse development ecosystem including:

--Leverages the Eclipse implementation of OSGi.org specification -- using Equinox as a component container

--Components and services are assembled with loose coupling and dynamic re-coupling

--Enables the dynamic discovery and availability for business components and services running inside the same component container

--Service-based approach is applied both inside and outside of the application

--Includes a number of standard optional services: logging, configuration, Tomcat, JNDI, JMS, JDBC, persistence (Hibernate), Spring, JSF, JTA, user authentication and authorization, preferences, Jasper reporting, Facelets, Scheduler, and many others

--Includes a toolset for component development and a repository for component sharing
