The Resident Evil series has rarely disappointed, so the prospect of a fifth outing on next-generation consoles is bound to spark excited twitching in the thumbs of gamers ready to engross themselves in the next biohazard threat. Set in Africa, the latest bioterrorism threat is literally transforming the people and animals of the city into mindless, maddened creatures. Joined by new partner, Sheva Alomar, you can bring Chris some much-needed assistance by using a revolutionary new two-player, coop mode of gameplay. Gone are some of the creepy spine-tingling jump-out-of-your seat moments that lingered in the darkness of the early versions. There's a greater emphasis on action this time round, but there are still more than enough thrills and spills to keep the franchise going strong. Don't miss out on this African adventure.

MILLENNIUM SERIES CHAMPIONSHIP PAINTBALL. Platform: Xbox 360 Price: pounds 49.99 Bombarded with a host of titles that allow you to pump opponents full of lead, or other similarly harmful substances, is it too timid a release to offer up the chance of a spot of paintball on Xbox 360? Masquerading as an extreme sport, which of course in real life it is, this is a first-person shooter without the real shooting. There's no bloodlust craving here, just simple recognition that this game does well catering for serious fans of paintballing. However, it will leave first-person-shooter fans feeling short-changed. It looks pretty good and, thankfully, will leave you bruise free after an intensive session, but let's face it, there are dozens of better shooters out there right now.

TRIVIAL PURSUIT. Platform: Wii Price: pounds 29.99

In these high-technology days, you're more likely to gather the family around the TV for bit of board game fun, as consoles take the well-worn cardboard classics and give them the full interactive treatment. The same goes for Trivial Pursuit. The dice and plastic wedge segments are replaced with dynamic visuals, new questions and question types, plus several ways to customise your play. You can also earn extra points by guessing whether your friends know the answer in the Facts and Friends mode. Plus you can track your own best categories over time with your custom trivial pursuit profile. Don't expect any earth-shattering innovations - you'll be sorely disappointed, - but for a virtual version of a classic general knowledge test, this is pretty good.
