Integration of UHC's Q3ADE CORBA Gateway with Evidian's OpenMaster

for Telecom extends services and functionality offered by OpenMaster

to third-party applications based on CORBA

Evidian, a global supplier of secure e-business and telecom management software; and UH Communications (UHC), a leading provider of tools and know-how that promotes the deployment of integrated IT management solutions; announced today that UHC's Q3ADE CORBA Gateway has been integrated within Evidian's OpenMaster for Telecom service assurance software suite.

The two companies will jointly market the integrated solution, focusing on meeting the challenge faced by service providers who need to integrate and open up their operational support systems (OSS) and telecommunication management network (TMN) systems. Under this alliance, Evidian welcomes UHC as an Associate Partner in its "Ready for Evidian" Partner Program. UHC is now referenced in the catalogue of solutions that are certified as interoperable with OpenMaster.

The new integration solution allows a third party TMN application, based on CORBA, to interoperate with OpenMaster for Telecom middleware, and thus benefit from the service assurance and network management functions provided by OpenMaster in most multi-vendor, multi-technology OSS environments.

CORBA (common object request broker architecture) is a successful base integration technology for telecom companies within the OSS and the TMN areas. In the solution built by Evidian and UHC, the interaction between OpenMaster and the third party or customer-developed application relies on a CORBA/IIOP standard protocol. This implementation provides to the CORBA-based application a common object model for all the management information; e.g., using legacy management protocols such as CMIP, SNMP and CORBA, thus allowing efficient interoperability and rapid integration.
