Through real-world demonstrations at its booth and in the Catalyst Showcase area at TeleManagement World, Evidian, a leading vendor of secure e-infrastructure management software, is providing further evidence of its ability to deliver a full e-service assurance management solution to meet the needs of service providers and telecom equipment manufacturers.

At Evidian's booth (#201), the company is showcasing the various capabilities of its OpenMaster for Telecom e-business service assurance software. A real-world demo illustrates web-based management of a complex network infrastructure that comprises multiple technologies (e.g., IP, ATM, SDH (Synchronous Digital Hierarchy) The European counterpart to SONET. Operator profiling, using real operational examples, is addressed via the role-based management feature of OpenMaster to enable this segregation. Also shown is Evidian's SafeKit(R) software for load balancing The fine tuning of a computer system, network or disk subsystem in order to more evenly distribute the data and/or processing across available resources. For example, in clustering, load balancing might distribute the incoming transactions evenly to all servers, or it might redirect them  and auto fail-over, critical elements for true service assurance.

In TeleManagement World's Catalyst Showcase (Room S102), Evidian is teaming up with other industry leaders and mobile operators to demonstrate new-generation wireless networking See wireless network.  in the Mobile Common Configuration Management (MCCM MCCM Michael C. Used as a core management platform, Evidian's OpenMaster for Telecom is playing a significant role in this project. Project sponsors are Mannesmann Mobilfunk, Orange and T-Mobil, who are taking the lead in defining requirements for such a solution. Joining Evidian in the MCCM Catalyst project are: Bull, Compaq, Cramer Systems, Ericsson, ILOG, Motorola, Nokia, PSI and Siemens.

"It integrates service and network management tasks, particularly in the area of operations An operational area defined by the joint force commander for land and naval forces. Areas of operation do not typically encompass the entire operational area of the joint force commander, but should be large enough for component commanders to accomplish their missions and protect their  and maintenance, providing full end-to-end management coverage of service components, from elements to applications."

Derue, these are critical aspects of a service assurance solution for carriers as well as for new entrants in the exploding e-business market, such as Internet and application service providers (ISPs, ASPs). Equipment vendors also benefit from OpenMaster for Telecom's carrier-grade management capabilities and advanced reporting tools to deliver enhanced operation and maintenance facilities for their products.

Supplementing the booth and Catalyst demonstrations, Evidian is distributing free mini-CDs (about the size of a business card) that illustrate additional product capabilities downloadable from the company's web site. The CD provides hyperlinks to web-based demos of:

OpenMaster for Telecom Meets Infrastructure Management Needs

For carriers and network service providers, OpenMaster for Telecom offers a management infrastructure to host high-value services. By automating service assurance and flow-through OSS processes, it allows service providers to support and manage end-to-end the quality of service of multi-vendor and multi-service networks, such as frame relay A high-speed packet switching protocol used in wide area networks (WANs). Providing a granular service of up to DS3 speed (45 Mbps), it has become popular for LAN to LAN connections across remote distances, and services are offered by most major carriers. , ATM, IP services, voice/data, wireless and multimedia.

For equipment vendors, OpenMaster for Telecom delivers enhanced operation and maintenance facilities to develop their added value through innovative management capabilities. Built-in flexibility and advanced development tools allows equipment vendors to accelerate time-to-market for new products, combined with CORBA-, Java-, and TMN-compliant standards. OpenMaster for Telecom web-based technologies also improve integration capabilities at the component level.

OpenMaster for Telecom allows proactive problem resolution through advanced fault management and service level management solutions, with built-in facilities for dynamic monitoring and event handling, including a rules-based engine for event correlation. The service level management capabilities automate tracking and reporting of quality of service commitments.

OpenMaster for Telecom is used by major service providers and equipment manufactures worldwide, including: Deutsche Telekom, Ericsson, France Telecom, Globalstar, Intermedia Intermedia - A hypertext system developed by a research group at IRIS (Brown University).  Communications, Lockheed Martin, Motorola, New Zealand New Zealand (zē`lənd), island country (2005 est. pop. 4,035,000), 104,454 sq mi (270,534 sq km), in the S Pacific Ocean, over 1,000 mi (1,600 km) SE of Australia. "With the rapid development of the Net Economy, telecommunication operators need to benefit from new generation management software to speed up the deployment, manage quality of service and reduce the cost of maintaining these converged network services," Derue said. "As competition intensifies, the ability to deliver and maintain consistent carrier-grade quality across the voice, video, data, and other advanced value-added service domains is a key element of differentiation among service providers"

Derue said that Evidian plans to extend OpenMaster for Telecom to a comprehensive and integrated network and service management solution built on top of a service inventory and based on flexible service monitoring. The first release of this new software suite is planned to include a service manager and service level management conformance controller applications as well as allow interoperability with the service procurement function. This customer-centric approach will give end users secure access to all information they need about the services to which they have subscribed..

SafeKit Makes High Availability Practical for Telecom e-business

SafeKit integrates load balancing and fail-over management software technologies to provide a uniquely comprehensive solution that helps to deliver maximum service performance, scalability and 24x7 availability of Internet and enterprise applications. SafeKit's real-time file mirroring instantly handles fail-over of transactional servers, such as databases, across any LAN (Local Area Network) A communications network that serves users within a confined geographical area. The "clients" are the user's workstations typically running Windows, although Mac and Linux clients are also used.  or WAN network

Using a patented single virtual IP address mechanism, SafeKit allows customers to automatically distribute and balance application load on as many servers as needed as needed prn. See prn order. . Should any of the servers have to be stopped or fail for any reason (e.g., software, human or hardware), the remaining servers automatically assume the whole traffic and processing load typically in less than three seconds, usually before end users notice any disruption.
