EvidentData Hosts Cybercops from Taiwan.

BOSTON -- Law enforcement agents from Taiwan's Ministry of Justice Investigation Bureau ("MJIB") recently spent two days with EvidentData's "digital detectives" to learn new strategies for investigating computer crime. As the Boston Herald recently reported, the MJIB is developing their ability to "battle everything from foreign espionage to cyber bandits stealing financial data."

Over the course of two days, computer forensics experts from EvidentData provided the MJIB representatives with presentations focused on acquiring and analyzing electronic evidence in a forensically sound manner. EvidentData personnel discussed computer crime in Taiwan with Director Yen So-Lin and Senior Special Agent Chen Sou-Chan and, based on these dialogues, made recommendations regarding hardware, software, and procedures to implement as MJIB develops its own computer forensics capabilities.

EvidentData also arranged tours and meetings with law-enforcement agencies in Massachusetts to expose the MJIB agents to a variety of computer forensics labs and methodologies. "We are very grateful to the Massachusetts State Police and the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office for hosting our visitors from Taiwan," said Mark Spencer, Director of the Northeast Region for EvidentData. "Both Director Yen and Special Agent Chen mentioned how impressed they were with computer forensics laboratories in Massachusetts and indicated they would be implementing what they learned upon their return to Taiwan," according to Spencer.

The Ministry of Justice Investigation Bureau, Taiwan's equivalent of the FBI, is responsible for investigations including national security, organized crime, major economic crime, and drug trafficking. MJIB is fast becoming Taiwan's premier cybercrime-fighting law-enforcement agency.
