Every time the phone rings I hope it will be a call that saves my life; Donor Card I would like to help someone to live after my death.Byline: By MARIE Marie (mərē`), 1875–1938, queen of Romania, consort of Ferdinand. The daughter of Alfred, duke of Edinburgh and of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha, she was the granddaughter of Czar Alexander II of Russia and of Queen Victoria of England. LEVY JONATHON LINCOLN has been waiting for a new kidney for 18 months. Every time his mobile rings he hopes there will be someone at the other end telling him a suitable donor has been found. Jonathon is only 32 but without a transplant he faces spending the rest of his life having dialysis dialysis (dīăl`ĭsĭs), in chemistry, transfer of solute (dissolved solids) across a semipermeable membrane. Strictly speaking, dialysis refers only to the transfer of the solute; transfer of the solvent is called osmosis. - a procedure which artificially removes waste products from the blood when the kidneys fail. He said: "It's very stressful because literally you are just sat around waiting for a phone call. "At the moment the hospital is my second home. I'm in dialysis for three and a half hours, three days a week at James Cook." It's a treatment which disrupts his whole life but he has little choice. "If you don't do the dialysis you will die." Jonathon, who worked for Orange, was diagnosed with a serious kidney disorder called IgA nephropathy IgA nephropathy Berger's disease, IgA glomerulonephritis Nephrology Idiopathic IgA nephropathy is the most common form of primary glomerulonephritis in the world; primary IN is mediated by immune complexes and defined immunohistochemically by glomerular deposition two years ago after suffering severe migraines that lasted for days. "I was going out with friends and doing the normal things you do when you are 30 with not a care in the world then everything changed over night," he said. Tests revealed Jonathon had only 18% kidney function which was causing his blood pressure to soar. Doctors warned him that within a year to 18 months he would need dialysis or a kidney transplant kidney transplant or renal transplant Replacement of a diseased or damaged kidney with one from a living relative or a legally dead donor. The former's tissue type is more likely to match, reducing the chance of rejection; but removal puts the donor at risk, . Just months later Jonathon, of Normanby, started dialysis and by September he was on the waiting list for a new kidney. His hopes were raised not long after when he received a call at 1.30am telling him to get to Newcastle. But he had only been called as a back-up. "It's the worst feeling ever," he said. "It's a waiting game. I'm always on 24/7 standby. I just try to take each day as it comes." Jonathon said a new kidney would give him his life back. "The more people on the donor register the more chance people like me have of getting a kidney. "I would do it if I could."
