FAMILIES in Northumberland are being urged to put their good citizenship on show by joining the country's biggest-ever litter pick.

The Big Tidy Up Verb 1. tidy up - put (things or places) in order; "Tidy up your room!"
clean up, neaten, square away, tidy, straighten, straighten out

make up, make - put in order or neaten; "make the bed"; "make up a room"
 aims to get everyone out on the streets cleaning up their corner of the community.

To take part, people need to log on at www.thebigtidyup.org to register and will be sent a special kit containing everything they need to spruce up spruce up

 their neighbourhood.

The free kit includes tabards, refuse sacks, a guide, posters to promote the clean up, badges, and stickers.

People who complete one of the community clean ups will get a certificate in recognition of their hard work, and could be in line to receive a Big Tidy Up award.

 Council's neighbourhood services unit will offer full support to any group taking part in the initiative.

They will be supplying extra rubbish sacks and equipment, and arranging collection and disposal of the litter and waste.

Just ring 0845 600 6400 and give staff details of the litter pick.
