Everex and Sigma Designs announce new partnership in notebook video conferencing package; Combining ZV features with MMX technology adds superior video conferencing and video capture capabilities to Everex StepNote notebooks.


FREMONT, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 11, 1997--Everex Systems, Inc. today announced that it will bundle the Sigma video conferencing and video capture package with its high performance line of Everex StepNote notebook computers. Coupled with Intel's advanced MMX (MultiMedia EXtensions) A set of 57 additional instructions built into the Pentium MMX chip for improved multimedia and modem performance by performing mathematical operations on multiple sets of data at the same time (see SIMD).  processor technology, this new ZV interface chip will provide Everex notebook customers with superior video conferencing and video capture capabilities.

This new generation of video features for Everex notebooks provides a low cost, yet high bandwidth interface between an external video device and the video buffer of the notebook. Everex has been one of the industry leaders in mobile computing, incorporating the Zoom Video standard across its product lines. These include the new StepNote NT, StepNote SE and StepNote SC which feature Intel's new state-of-the-art 200MHz (MegaHertZ) One million cycles per second. It is used to measure the transmission speed of electronic devices, including channels, buses and the computer's internal clock. A one-megahertz clock (1 MHz) means some number of bits (16, 32, 64, etc. , 166MHz and 150MHz Pentium processors with MMX technology, advanced communications and multimedia support.

Everex's StepNote line of notebooks combined with the Sigma video conferencing package open up a wide range video capture and video conferencing applications for mobile users.
