Everbody Should Be Aware of the Problems Identity Theft Can CauseI can''t say that all men are thick, but I can say that about my husband. No matter what it is that I try to tell him, he has to find out the hard way. Whether it comes down to our car being towed for an unpaid ticket, or perhaps learning that viruses are very easy to get on your computer, for some reason he refuses to listen to me until it happens. One thing that I am very worried about is identity theft, and he has yet to take me seriously. This is something that is even more important than parking tickets or computer viruses. This could ruin us for life. Even though we live in a small community, I still worry about identity theft all the time. Because my husband works for a construction company, he has free use of a Dumpster to dispose of our trash. This means that quite often are garbage is left in the middle of town in a Dumpster. I know that anyone anytime could climb into that dumpster to look for information for identity theft. Believing that a small community is safe is not the smartest thinking anymore. It can happen to anyone, anywhere, at any time. I have asked him time and time again to buy us a paper shredder. He has refused to do so, so I guess I will have to go out and get one on my own. I have also asked him to stop putting our checkbook and other financial information in the car. He says that this is just more convenient for him, and he is tired of running in and out of the house when he needs to go to the bank or go to take care of a bill. I told him that he is leaving us open for identity theft, but he does not believe me. As far as I''m concerned, anyone who leaves their checkbook and Social Security number in their car is asking for trouble. I certainly hope that something that does not have to happen before he believes me about identity theft. It is not exactly something you can take care of with a quick call to someone else. Those who go through identity theft have a lot of problems that can follow them around for years to come. Sometimes, it is impossible to get your credit repaired after something like this happens. We have yet to buy our own home, and I do not want a case of identity theft to stop us from doing so. I may have to sneak out into the car to steal everything from inside to teach him a lesson. If he doesn''t shape up soon, this is exactly what I''m going to do. Ann Merier has written many articles on family health problems and useful house and garden Topics.
