Events to honor victims of attack.

Byline: SUSAN PALMER The Register-Guard

No one, it seems, wants to let Sept. 11 go by without marking the day in some way. From memorial services that honor those who died a year ago to peace vigils focusing on what the future holds, the events will bring people together all over the county.

Perhaps the longest local service is a 24-hour vigil at the Federal Building Plaza that begins Wednesday at 6 a.m.

Sponsored by a coalition that includes Eugene PeaceWorks, the Justice Not War Coalition, the Families of September 11th and the Lane County Pacific Green Party, the event honors grieving survivors, calls for justice and promotes peace, organizers said.

The Eugene gathering coincides with a 24-hour vigil at ground zero in New York New York, state, United States
