Matrix is a patented mineral-based product that uses low-thermal processes that, when combined with a catalyst, will alter its molecular structure through ionic exchange. Crystalline growth is then accelerated, forming a matrix which encapsulates the contaminant. The process affords an economic and environmental advantage over the widely used thermal remediation (particularly incineration incineration

) type treatment for disposal of hazardous waste.

EDCO Environmental president, James B. Grover, stated: "While this was a relatively small project, EDCO proved that the Matrix CA-6 process and our field equipment successfully and economically treated hazardous waste. With the technology of Matrix now proven in field application, we will continue to focus on marketing this alternative remediation process to hazardous waste generators and Superfund sites throughout our exclusive marketing areas."
